Even if you have owned the Air 2S for some time, you might not be aware of the full potential of this incredible drone. It has many interesting customization options you can use. Using the DJI Fly app will help you make your flying experience even more exciting.

We dedicated this article to the features offered by the DJI Air 2S. We will explore ways to create the best photos with your drone. So, let’s get started…

Adjusting the Horizon Level

If you have experience piloting and capturing photos with a drone, you might be familiar with the following situation. You lift the device into the air and realize that the horizon level setting is no longer active, even though you set it before takeoff. It’s indeed frustrating to discover this. But how can you adjust the horizon level?

The Air 2S offers two options for this purpose.

The first and easier option is to use appropriate software to edit the already captured footage. This is a method most pilots apply. Although it’s the easiest way, there’s another—better and more professional. Simply set the desired settings in advance using the DJI Fly app.

DJI Air 2S allows you to choose between Automatic mode and Manual mode for adjusting the horizon level. It’s suitable to use the Automatic mode when you’re stationary. Correspondingly, the Manual mode is designed for use when you are already piloting.

How to Adjust the Horizon with DJI Fly?

Select Settings from the menu (the three dots in the top right corner of the screen).

Go to the Control section and choose Gimbal Calibration.

From there, you can select one of two options: Automatic or Manual.

If you choose Automatic mode, you won’t need to input anything else. Just wait for the process to complete.

In Manual mode, you will have the option to manually adjust the horizon values.

Yaw adjusts the camera left and right.

The Horizon option allows you to adjust the gimbal tilt left or right until the horizon line is leveled.

When you find the correct settings position, select X in the top left corner of the screen to return to Camera View.

Tip: If you enable the framing grid, you can use it to align the horizon line visually.

Tilting the Gimbal Upward

The upward tilt of the gimbal allows you to tilt the camera 30 degrees above the horizon center. Thanks to this option, you can use your drone more effectively for:

● Inspecting or monitoring bridges/structures

● Shooting under tree canopies

● Capturing dynamic hyperlapse or cloud videos from below

● Photographing hot air balloons from underneath

To activate the upward tilt of the gimbal, follow these steps:

● Select Control from the main menu

● Enable the upward tilt of the gimbal using the slider

Ensure the slider is marked in blue (activated).

If you want to deactivate it, slide it back to disable the function. The slider will no longer be blue.

Adjusting the Gimbal Tilt

If you want to capture the perfect cinematic video, the gimbal tilt feature will be useful. Adjust the speed and smoothness of the movement.

You can control the gimbal tilt using the wheel in the top left corner of the Air 2S controller. No matter how quickly you turn the wheel, it will respond according to the parameters you’ve set.

Changing the Speed and Smoothness of the Gimbal Movement:

● Go to the main menu

● Select the Control section

● Navigate to Advanced Gimbal Settings

Once in the advanced settings, you can adjust the Pitch Speed and Pitch Smoothness parameters, represented by values of 6 and 16 in the image.

Moving the sliders left or right will increase or decrease the speed or smoothness of the respective function.

These values are also independent of the specific flight modes, namely Normal, Cine, and Sport. You can choose to change all of them or focus on adjusting a single specific mode.
