We will share with you some basic ways to keep your drone in good condition.
Buying a drone is a big investment, which is a good reason to take the best care of it. Taking care of your drone will make it possible for you to use it for a long time and you’ll also enjoy stable flight and take quality photos.
Here we will give you some valuable tips on how to take good care of your drone to protect it from damage.
Tips on how to take care of your drone
Pre-flight checkup
For pilots who want to keep their drone in good condition, we can say that the pre-flight checkup is the first and foremost duty. This way, you'll have peace of mind that you've done everything that's up to you and minimized the chance of something going wrong during the mission.
It's a good idea to compile a checklist that is always easily accessible to you. By following the steps on the list, you won't miss any.

Proper drone battery care
Drones are powered by lithium-ion batteries, which you should keep them functional for as long as possible. Typically, these batteries have an average life of around 300 charges. Do not use a battery you suspect is faulty to prevent potential accidents.
Tips for proper battery maintenance:
- Fly with batteries that are fully charged
- When not using the drone, remove batteries
- Do not fully drain LiPo batteries
- Before storage, it is advisable to discharge the batteries to about 60%
- Store batteries in a cool, dry place at temperature (22-26˚C)
- Store batteries separated from each other
When piloting in winter conditions, you should be particularly careful and monitor the charge of the batteries as they drain faster than usual.
Use a suitable bag, rucksack or suitcase
If you are in an online shop and choosing your drone, we advise you to choose suitable storage. Don't skip this to avoid paying twice for shipping.
Storage makes carrying much more convenient and safe. A hard-shell bag or suitcase is a better choice because that way, you better protect your drone from damage.
Fly in good conditions
Always check what the weather forecast is. Overly humid and foggy conditions can damage your drone parts. Do not pilot during rain or snowfall. High winds are also something to avoid. Check what the maximum wind speed is for flying. As a general recommendation, we can say that speed above 30-40 km/h is not suitable.
Engine care
Good drone maintenance includes keeping the engines clean on a regular basis. We advise you to check, remove and clean the propellers after each flight. Blow down the engines with a vacuum cleaner or canned air.
Even if you like to fly your drone for hours, give it a break to prevent overheating and damage.
Keep the software up to date
It's important to check and update your software before you fly. These updates are very helpful as manufacturers strive to debug and improve old versions. If the firmware is not updated with the latest version, you may not even take off.
Check the condition of the propellers
Propellers or propellers are the part of your drone that keeps it in the air, and they must be in perfect shape. If you notice any cracks or broken parts, you should replace them with new ones.
Usually, when piloting, the propellers are what get damaged most often. So it's always good to have spares on hand, especially if you're on a trip that you don't want to be marred by your inability to capture the most beautiful footage.
Also, if you want to provide extra protection, you can install propeller protectors.
Clean your drone regularly
Cleaning your drone is another must-do procedure if you want it to be at its best for as long as possible. Don't worry, it's not a complicated or overly long procedure.
Start by checking the engine and remove any visible dirt. You can use a soft brush or air to remove dust and other debris.
To clean the body of the drone, all you need is a damp and soft cloth to gently wipe it with.
To clean the drone body, you can take a damp and soft cloth and wipe the drone and transmitter. You can also add some isopropyl liquid to the cloth.
All the steps listed in this article will help you keep your drone in perfect condition. If you find a fault, don't try to fix it yourself if you don't know how. Seek the help of a professional drone repair shop.
