What is the DJI RS3 Pro?
The DJI RS3 Pro is the latest addition in the DJI Ronin series of camera gimbals.
Externally, there is little difference between the DJI RS3 Pro and the previous RS2 model. The carbon arms are slightly longer and allow the use of professional cameras such as the Canon C70 and Sony FX6. Thanks to the larger screen, navigating menus and accessing functions is easier.
Motor power, payload and battery life are the same as the previous model. The weight it can hold is slightly higher due to the advanced electronics, which are actually mainly responsible for the amazing capabilities of the gimbal. The unit also features a Bluetooth module for greater connectivity options.

Functions
As a standalone product DJI RS3 Pro is really good, but if you add the optional accessories, it becomes an awesome device which you can use to shoot high quality movies for productions of any size.
The goal of the RS3 Pro is to help filmmakers even in difficult conditions and it offers wide compatibility with all sorts of cameras. That is the case because the carbon fiber arms are a bit longer now, in order to provide more space for mounting cameras. This means that professional camera bodies and lenses such as the Sony FX6 and Canon C70 with 24-70mm f/2.8 lens can now be mounted. The payload limit is still 4.5kg.
After tuning in to user feedback, the size of the top base plate has also been increased to increase the contact area between the camera and the plate. This prevents the camera from falling off during mounting in extreme conditions.
A new auto-lock feature has been added that instantly locks and unlocks all axles when the gimbal is on or off. This saves time by ensuring everything is safely locked before the gimbal is transported.
Further adding to the ease of use is the physical mode button on the side. It allows you to switch between PF, PTF and FPV modes with a press of the button instead of logging into the menu system. The FPV mode can be customized to enable 3D Roll 360, Portrait or Custom.
Enhanced full colour touchscreen
One of the instantly noticeable features is the new larger 1.8” OLED full colour touchscreen. It's 28% larger than the RS2's and allows you to toggle through settingsin a breeze.
Advanced focus
A big new feature in the RS3 Pro is the LiDAR focusing module. This optional module fits on top of the camera and plugs into the DJI focus motor (also optional) and the RS3 Pro. Once plugged in and calibrated, it creates a fast and accurate AF system for handheld Cine lenses. Since each lens must be calibrated before use, DJI provides the ability to store up to three preset lens profiles.
The DJI RS3 Pro also features a new ActiveTrack Pro. This lets you mark your subjects on the small touchscreen, and then the camera will instantly start following them. This is ideal for shots where you want to go around in circles or quickly move past your subjects, which usually requires complex manoeuvres.
The DJI RS3 Pro is equipped with DJI O3 Pro video transmission technology. This allows for video transmission at a distance of up to 6km and full compatibility with the high brightness remote monitor that was launched alongside the Ronin 4D.
The RS3 Pro can also be used with the 4D hand grips, Master Wheels and Force Pro.
