DJI's new FPV drone allows everyone to enjoy high-speed flight and "take the pilot's seat”. Typically, FPV drones are known for being more difficult to control. DJI Avata is a solution even for the beginner enthusiasts of the fast unmanned machines. With it, capturing 4K video at up to 60 frames per second is not only easy, but also extremely fun.
The DJI Avata is DJI's second FPV drone model, following the DJI FPV drone - released in early 2021. The new Avata is smaller, lighter and much more maneuverable than DJI's previous model. Another characteristic is the cinewhoop design, where the propeller guards are built into the drone's body.
DJI have done their best to offer a drone suitable for both beginners and advanced pilots. It is operated very easily by using intuitive controls. More experienced pilots can pilot fully manual in Manual mode.
The DJI Avata is available on its own, as well as in two different combo kits - Fly Smart Combo and Pro-View Combo.
DJI Avata review
Compact and stylish design
The drone is extremely stable and maneuverable thanks to its compact "Cinewhoop" style design with built-in propeller guards. On contact with another object, it can bounce back, stay in the air and keep flying. All this makes it suitable for piloting in complex environments such as tight spaces.
Functionality
DJI Avata features GPS and downward motion sensors that are active in Normal and Sport modes. When you release the controls, when an obstacle is detected, the drone will stop and stay hovering in one place. The device detects obstacles below thanks to an infrared sensor system and a two-camera downward vision system. This allows you to fly at very low altitudes.
Avata has other safety features as well. For example, the Return to home function is activated automatically when the battery is too low or when the connection to the device deteriorates.
Turtle mode
This is an innovative mode where if the drone falls on the ground upside down, it can turn back upright by itself.
Wide field of view
Unlike most drones that offer 84° FOV, the DJI Avata offers 155° FOV. This makes the visibility many times more realistic and closer to what we see in real life.
Smooth capture
DJI Avata features two technologies that enhance smooth cinematography - RockSteady 2.0 and HorizonSteady. RockSteady reduces camera shake in real time, while HorizonSteady stabilizes footage.
Many control options
DJI FPV Remote Control 2
You can control the drone very precisely with the DJI FPV Remote Control 2. It allows you to use manual mode and have an even more advanced control over flight movements.
DJI Motion Controller
This controller is part of both the Fly Smart Combo and Pro-View Combo kits. You can also purchase it individually. With it, you control the drone by tilting forward and backward to ascend and descend, and by tilting the unit left or right to turn.
The DJI Motion features a button that, when pressed, stops the drone immediately. This is very useful in the event of an imminent crash. There is also a button to switch between normal and sport mode, as well as a button to take photos and start/stop video recording.
While it may seem unconventional at first, once you get used to it, you'll feel how easy and intuitive this controller is.
DJI Goggles 2
The DJI Avata lets you sit in the pilot's seat via two options - the DJI Gоgglеѕ 2 and the DJI FVP Gоgglеѕ V2. Create immersive video in 4K at up to 60 fps, 2.7K at up to 100 fps and 1080p at up to 100 fps with DJI Goggles 2.
With DJI FPV Goggles V2, you can capture in Low-Latency Mode with 810p/120fps ≤ 28ms or High-Quality Mode with 810p/60fps ≤ 40ms.
